Former CNN, Warner Media executive jumps to Scripps Network as CMO

Scripps Networks taps former Recount Media senior vice president of marketing and PR Keisha Taylor Starr as chief marketing officer, effective January 3, 2022.

Her primary role will include setting the vision and leading marketing strategies across all nine Scripps networks. She will also be in charge of directing the marketing, brand strategy and creative for each network. She will be based in Atlanta and will report to Scripps Networks president Lisa Knutson.

“Keisha is a remarkably talented executive whose multi-faceted experience marketing top brands and programming across multiple platforms will be a tremendous asset for us as we connect consumers with the news, information and entertainment they’re seeking,” said Knutson.

Starr brings more than two decades of media experience across news, sports and entertainment. At Recount, she led the expansion of the brand’s PR/media relations strategy and directed the growth marketing strategy that gave the brand more subscribers across all app and social channels. As senior vice president of integrated marketing at Learfield IMG College, she successfully led the marketing team through corporate transitions and supported the sales force in revenue generation and business development initiatives.

Starr’s expertise ranges from managing cross-functional and award-winning marketing teams to building integrated marketing plans. She has held senior leadership roles at CNN and WarnerMedia where she developed and launched multicultural marketing campaigns that contributed to the growth of the companies’ diverse audiences.
