Originally launched to aggregate print and on-air news, Hayti’s significant expansion into podcasts showcases the app’s relentless drive to cater to the high media consumption needs of the Black community in the U.S.

Hayti was recently named to the Geekz Ventures pre-accelerator program.

Camille Kauer, an award-winning podcaster and on-air talent, expressed her excitement for the development. “The inception of Hayti as a comprehensive platform significantly changes the game for creators and our community,” Kauer said. Her podcast, The E-Spot with Camille, is now hosted on Hayti. “The overwhelming support from listeners who value a trusted, Black-owned platform for their news and podcasts is matchless,” she added.

Hayti’s latest upgrade provides users with a simple interface to discover, listen to, share, and save podcasts from their favorite Black creators. This innovative approach addresses the desires of Black audiences, with recent studies showing 62 percent of Black podcast listeners seek hosts that represent them.

Cary Wheelous, CEO of Hayti, highlighted the importance of Hayti’s podcast section. “The introduction of podcasts to Hayti is a pivotal step in providing everyone, irrespective of their news preferences, a home at Hayti,” he said.

Hayti’s move to accommodate podcasts is a strategic response to the needs of its target audience. Wheelous also addresses the role of the app in circulating accurate information. “Creating a news aggregation app from credible Black publishers and outlets allows our community to connect with culturally relevant, fact-checked information, helping to halt the spread of misinformation on social media,” he explained.

Hayti’s distinctive position as a Black-owned app, delivering articles, videos, and podcasts all under one roof, is further marked by being the first mobile app to feature more than 200 Black publishers and over 2,000 Black podcasters on both Android and iOS platforms.
