MSL global communications leader Veronica Marshall has launched a global activist collective alongside nearly a hundred other professionals in the advertising world.
The Humanity Lab’s main goal is “to fight racism and champion humanity,” which the collective plans to do by utilizing each member’s skills to give back to their communities on a pro-bono basis.
“Marketing and communications are our protest. Using the same skills we employ on behalf of our companies, we seek to level the playing field so voices on the front lines can be heard. We also built a space to cut through the red tape that commonly exists in corporate America. Our goal: have a direct impact on the issues that matter to us,” reads a statement from the group.
While The Humanity Lab was founded mainly in response to the racial injustices that have rocked the nation this summer, that’s not all it’s meant to tackle.
“What sets us apart is we understand that today we’re talking about Black Lives, but tomorrow it will be other lives that matter,” reads a statement from THL. “That’s why, through our platform, we enable LGBTQIA, women, people of color, executives, recent college graduates, and a myriad of others to engage, participate, and be heard,” it continues.
The group intends to provide human capital and creative resources to movements that don’t have the necessary resources to amplify their movement.
